Morning Silence

BY JULIE BRANDON

Early

I’m an early riser

Started with babies’ cries long ago

Now a time I guard jealously

Cocooned in silence

Bathes my soul in peace

When the noise of life is turned down

And my heart opens to the possibility

Perhaps the Divine will speak to me

And I have not forgotten how to listen

In quiet of the morning hours
