Follow the Footsteps of the Holy Family
They will show the way
Through the desert with Faith, Hope, and Love,
Guided by an angel as they pray
Treasured hearts of humility
Hold the map to our heavey home
Beyond the golden gates
There the Creator waits
Upon his Majestical throne
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph we love you
We give you our hearts and our souls.
You showed us the path
To the Father’s House
Padre of the Poor,
He invites us in
Through Eternity’s doors
Seraphim and Cherubim adore
The Blessed Trinity eternally,
Forever more.
From Nazareth to Bethlehem,
Then to Egypt and back again –
Happy at home at their carpenter’s shop,
Their simple chores were performed
Foster Father, Divine Son, worked as one
Repairing wood that was worn
Through these humble ones
Thy will was done
To this Madre Our Savior was born
Jesu, Maria, e Jose we love you
Enlighten us, help us, save souls.
You showed us the path
To the Father’s House
Padre of the Poor,
He invites us in
Through Eternity’s doors
Seraphim and Cherubim adore
The Blessed Trinity eternally,
Forever more.
On the road from Jerusalem,
They failed to find their beloved boy
Nearly three days had already passed
At last was their long-lost joy!
After teaching the wise ones prayers,
He honored their homeward request –
Purity he will bless,/
Modesty in our dress;
Ascend the celestial stairs…
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph we love you
May we breathe out our souls in peace with you.
This Hispanic-style prayer/poem to the Holy Family has special meaning for me. Not only is it written by my own dear padre…but I was honored to be able to sing on the chorus of it when we recorded it on our “BlessTree” CD, “Blessed Be the Holy Family”! Thanks, Dad, for doing me the favor of allowing me to post it on here for Father’s Day! 🙂
Thank you!
