As the small statues marched toward them, the assassin boy opened a portal beneath the two steel figures. The statues vanished in a beam of light.
That shouldn’t happen with my portals, thought Khalid.
“Behind you. Both of you!” screeched Winona. Khalid often switched between loving and hating her voice.
Khalid dove to the side as a fist impacted the floor where he stood, leaving a tiny crater.
They can teleport.
The second statue was on top of Zenon punching her with its great strength. It didn’t do much.
“I’m stuck. This thing won’t get off me,” said Zenon awkwardly.
“I have my hands full too, boob brain,” screamed Khalid as the statue shot beams from its eyes. He never got a chance to set position and fire his Boomstick.
“Why do you talk like that. Boob brain? Who says that?” said Zenon, her voice vibrating as the Robot shot beams at her face.
“I’ll save you, Khalid,” screeched Winona, slithering out the cage door with blinding speed. She pulled her right fist back tight into her hip. “Hai!” she screamed as she punched with her right hand, sending the statue’s head flying off, causing sparks to scatter everywhere. The statue, clearly a robot, lay unmoving.
Khalid rushed to Zenon, he fired Boomstick in the remaining robot’s chest, blowing a hole through it. It turned around and jumped upon Khalid.
Almost a blur of motion, Winona slithered toward Khalid. “Kiai!” she screamed, her fist blowing the robot’s head off before it could act on Khalid. It froze, still and non-functioning.
The children streamed out of the cell, clamoring around Zenon and Khalid.
“You’re a ninja kid.”
“Brown Ninja.”
“Are you Mixer’s sidekick?”
“Zenon, your powers are so cool.”
“Zenon is really tough.”
“I wish my dad was as cool as you guys. He just hangs on trees with his tail.”
The children stayed away from Winona; however, more afraid than before. Only one child approached Winona.
“My eye. It sees the truth. It saw you didn’t want to hurt anyone. But I knew we made you hungry; it scared me. I’m sorry I didn’t talk to you. You’re very nice,” said the Cyclops boy, “My name is Scotty. I’m a Myth like you. We should stick together.”
Winona smiled her cute, fanged smile, blushing at the Myth boy’s show of friendship.
Khalid looked at this Myth boy Scotty with approval.
Until the Cyclops turned toward Khalid and Zenon with his one eye flashing red.
“You,” said Scotty pointing to Khalid, “You have a crush on her,” said the Cyclops pointing to Zenon.
Khalid slammed his fist against Scotty’s jaw. The Myth boy fell over unconscious, making all the kids scream.
Zenon, however, laughed. “Aww, you like me,” she said, winking.
Glowering, Khalid opened a portal, telling the children to walk inside.
