Our Love

Our Love

I held you in the dark

In my arms as you cried.

When you fell into sleep,

I wiped the tears from your eyes.

In the night when you woke

From the nightmares in fear,

I came and I rocked you

So you’d know I was there.

And when the world would go mad

When our enemies came,

I always pulled you close

When you’d whisper my name.

 –

And even when they took you,

When they tore us apart,

I swore to protect you,

For you’d stolen my heart.

 –

As I stared through the bars

That held you locked inside,

I promised right then

To make you my sweet bride.

 –

And we fought all the way

Till at last you were home,

Laid your head on my shoulder,

No longer alone.
