Summary: An old woman knows it will not be long before she can lay down her cane…
An aluminum clank walking stick clank is
Its own clank cross to bear clank an aged
Woman climbing clank Calvary again
Clank burdened with her cross of years and pain
She was a little girl once, in her spring
Barefoot among the hills of Galilee
Her Galilee, skipping among the flowers
Almost as lightly as they danced in the sun
For now a clank, a cross, but soon she’ll dance
Again – “to God, who giveth joy to my youth”
