Leaves: A Chronicles of Narnia Poem

Leaves: A Chronicles of Narnia Poem

~ by Amanda Tkaczow

Green leaves.
One takes advantage of the sight.
     Green leaves—
     A sign of might.

White snow.
They’ve seen it a hundred years.
     White snow.
It would weaken them to tears.

Young children.
     Their presence broke the spell.
     Young children
And Aslan rescued them from hell.

The leaf—
The symbol of the Golden Reign.
     The leaf.
     When Narnia regained her fame.

Golden leaves.
     Life in Narnia was lavish.
     Golden leaves.
     Then the Four vanished.

The Trees.
Once dancing for pleasure.
The Trees—
Sad and silent beyond all measure.

The forest.
Telmar thought it haunted.
The forest.
Just as the Narnians wanted.

One night
The Stars danced a rare dance.
One night
The Telmar Prince fled fatal circumstance.

A magical horn,
Winded ignorant of the lore.
A magical horn
Brought the return of the Four.

Legends of Old
Arrive to assist.
Legends of Old,
“Aslan, we need,” the Valiant persists.

Aslan’s How.
Battle comes upon them.
Aslan’s How.
She is sent to find Him.

Narnia triumphs
For Aslan woke the Trees.
Narnia triumphs—
Her royalty falls to their knees.

King Caspian,
The departure of the Four.
King Caspian,
Narnia shall see two no more.
