Tears in a Dark Blue Sky

Tears in a Dark Blue Sky

They say that the stars will never die

Hanging up in a dark blue sky

But no one knows exactly why

The water bears our tears.

Why do we stand alone and cry?

Standing under a dark blue sky?

While no one knows exactly why

We are lost in a shadow of fear.

And since we know that the stars are there

Bright and silver, high and fair

Why does it matter and why do we care

That the Faithful are falling away?

We are watching the stars in the nightful air

And The Children say they will always be there

So why does it matter and should we care

That nothing else will stay?

We say that the way of the world we see

Is strange and different and far from free

And we don’t understand how they can be

So far away from the rest.

And we cry to the stars that never die

Hanging up in a dark blue sky

But no one knows exactly why

Their way was always best.

The starlit water of a darkling mere

Is bloody with tears that The Children cried

But do we believe that the droplets there

Reflect the tears of a dark blue sky?

The shadowed scent of the final first

Rings in the dark like a burning tree

Where the tears of the sky and the tears of the earth

Mingle together beyond the sea.
