Remembering Blessings

Remembering Blessings

One Christmas
I remember
looking out the window
in the ivory snow
on a brown, barren tree branch
sat a beautiful cardinal,
and he didn’t seem to mind the cold as
he sat out in the windy snow strewn
song of winter;
he simply seemed grateful for a place
to sit.
Even in the hard times there’s something
to praise,
and so, I will forever be like this cardinal,
weathering the storm and enduring
even when the problems
seem greater
than the blessings.
