Brigid of the Flame

Brigid of the Flame

I am both Christian and Pagan for the Divine knows no bounds

I am known as

Mary of the Gael

I am the Queen of generosity, for Christ dwells in every creature

I am the patroness of cattle and dairy workers for I create abundance

I was destined for great things as Patrick foretold

I am the patroness of travelers and sailors because of my journeys all over Eire

I founded the church of the Oaks in Kildare

I am part of the great Irish Trinity along with Patrick and Columba

I am education, pilgrimage, and worship

I come from the land, work with the land, I am the land

I am a caretaker and guardian of the poor

I am the spirit of hospitality, for all people are disguised as the Christ

I encourage all people to be peacemakers and peacekeepers

I challenge all to create a world filled with respect, equality, and justice

I am spring, dawn, and fertility

I am protectress of mothers and newborns

I am the first light and fire of spring

I am a fiery arrow my flame burns eternal in Kildare

I am the return of the Sun wheel and cross

I am queen of the hearth and home

I am a house Blessing and a lit candle in a room

I am a clean sweep of the house

I am Tober Breda, with my bath of healing waters

I am a time for change and the future

I am a New Hope

I am a celebration of forge and hearth relit

I am illumination, inspiration, and imagination

I am the mistress of creativity and inspiration

It is I who created the sacred hazelnut and salmon wisdom

I am the fertility and blacksmith of the poetic mind

It is I who creates fire in the head

I am the Crone who stirs the Caldron of creativity

It is I who forms and shapes the bard and storyteller

It is I who calls the artist to the great wilds

I was not lost to Christianity, I endure to this day

I am Brigid of the Flame
