One eve, I wandered,
through grassy glade,
Breathing scents of apples,
and violets.
While, at some distance,
strange music, played.
But I did not know the secret,
yet!
–
Somehow, the source, I
could not find,
Strange, how it somehow,
eluded me!
Though I did look, before,
and behind,
Sweet notes remained, a
mystery!
–
Off to my right, some clover
grew,
To my surprise, all leaves, of
four!
While in the twilight, drowsy
bees,
Led me to where I found, yet,
more!
–
Luck’s clover wreath, I
fashioned, there,
Hearing, a giggle, faery bright!
I placed the wreath, upon my
hair,
Watching the sun, sink down,
to night.
–
Clover, four-leaved, breaks
faeries’ spells,
So, warded well, I had no
fear,
That I’d be caught, and past
the veil,
Destined to dance, for many
years.
–
Passing, beneath three trees
of Thorn,
Noticing, not, wreath
snatched, and gone,
Only protection, from fae,
well shorn,
Leaving defenseless, me,
alone.
–
A raven perched, upon a tree,
Cawing, in harsh and strident
voice.
Somehow, I knew, he said, to
me,
“Best be away, while you
have choice!”
–
Too late! For charmed, I
traveled on,
To next, discover, red and
white,
Mushrooms, that made a
faery ring,
Where faeries danced, in
pure delight!
–
“Oh, come and dance the
faery ring!
Free, you will be, of cares
and woe.
Come, lift your voice, and
with us sing,
And leave behind the world,
you know!”
–
Enchantment’s thrall, I can,
but obey,
Toward the ring, forced, each
step, I take,
Gone is the time, I could turn,
away.
The world I have known, I
must now, forsake!
–
If you should find, yourself,
one day,
Breathing in violet or apple
bliss,
While into the air, chimed
music plays,
Be well forewarned; it comes
to this!
–
Raven and crow are
harbingers,
Warning of faeries,
somewhere near.
With lure of luck’s clover, as
clever draw,
They giggle, while planning,
to catch you, here!
–
And if you’re drawn, to step
within,
Circle of mushrooms, red and
white,
Say your “goodbyes”, to the
world of men,
And say “hello”, to the Fae’s
Delight!
Absolutely enchanting! Simple, yet witty, inventive and thoughtful. Each line compelled me to continue to the next. Thanks!
Congratulations, Donna…
I loved the poem & the picture!!!
Beautiful Donna! :))) 💕 Thank you for sharing!
Such a Gorgeous Poem, Donna!!!!
Ravens and Crows a’plenty here; not to mention all the other items. Though I think the music is just in my head (great acoustics), and the laughter is me enjoying life.
Exquisite!★! Xx’s <3
Lovely poem and a little lore for spice.

This is a truly charming piece! I love how you were able to seamlessly interweave faery lore into this narrative poem. Now I’ll make sure I take along an extra clover crown should I find myself blithely skipping through the woods…;)
Thank you, everyone, for the lovely compliments! i am so glad you enjoyed my poem!
