The Coming of the King

The Coming of the King

Come, oh come, oh great and mighty King

And relieve us of our suffering

Take us to your kingdom up above

And surround us in your glorious love

Let no evil stand in our way

As we make ready for that wondrous day

Hearken, hearken, for the coming of the King!

You will know when you hear the angels sing

That the King of Heaven has come down to earth

And He is that Babe sitting by the hearth

Come, oh come, oh God and Creator

Keep us close to you forever more

Make our faith both strong and true

Until we may come face to face with You

Surrounded by Your great creation

Never more to fear separation

Hearken, hearken, for the coming of the King!

You will know when you hear the angels sing

That the King of Heaven has come down to earth

And He is that Babe sitting by the hearth

Come, oh come, oh perfect Priest

Invite us to the wedding feast

Where tears are dried and sadness is gone

Where worries are forgotten erelong

With a warmth that seeps into our bones

As we reach our everlasting home

Hearken, hearken, for the coming of the King!

You will know when you hear the angels sing

That the King of Heaven has come down to earth

And He is that Babe sitting by the hearth

Come, oh come, oh spotless Sacrifice

You have come to pay our heavy price

Oh what love is this we see

Oh how can this possibly be?

Your love has made You helpless and small

For us who don’t deserve it at all

Hearken, hearken, for the coming of the King!

You will know when you hear the angels sing

That the King of Heaven has come down to earth

And He is that Babe sitting by the hearth
