Hope, Art Thou Slain?

Hope, Art Thou Slain?

Hope, art thou slain?

The masses believe in you not.

Only I believe.

Only I hold you close.

Only I hope till the very end.

They give up.

They despair.

They say, “It’s inevitable,”

“It’s for the best.”

And “Pain is worse than death.”

“Hardship is worse than death.”

But I?

I defy them.

Hardship is part of life.

Without it, how could we relish happiness?

Pain is too –

How else could we cherish health?

What is truly inevitable if we take a stand?

Death? Hardship? Pain? Impenitence?

No.

Or if it is, it is balanced out by

Life, Love, Happiness, Forgiveness, Mercy.

But only if there is Hope.

Hope says nothing is inevitable,

But the masses ignore it.

And I?

I defy them.
