Forgive

Forgive

~ by Vanessa Parry

Fingers clenched about black iron; I grip tight the pain I would inflict. But with one gentle tap at the door of my heart, I see my sword for what it is… shackles, to bind my own spirit.

“Forgive.” One small word encompasses the lord of all creation.

Iron dissolves, as I release my hurt. Was my brother truly bound more tightly than I by my anger?  Fingers now tingling with returning life, I brush away the remnants of my bruised pride.

Arms free once more to raise in praise, I grasp my brother’s hand and together we sway to the angel’s worship song.
