Transcending

Transcending

Ocean waves lapping on a lonely shore;
they cause deep stirrings within.
My soul drifts toward this natural call,
and I move from a place herein.

The wind through the trees when leaves are no more;
whispers of something unspoken.
It promises solace from the unseen,
to heal what in me is broken.

The cicadas by the thousands, with their summer hum;
I listen, and my heart starts to leap.
How I long to merge with their sound;
but it’s fleeting, and impossibly deep.

The chimes billowing softly in the Autumn breeze;
Summer’s last and dying breath.
Their enchantment so subtle, yet ringing of truth,
from the world beyond life and death.

They all stir within me, thoughts undefined;
that I wish I could put into words.
Of something elusive that I cannot see;
of something only my heart has heard.

But then that something flees from my mind,
and I return to reality.
I hope never to forget these things that all stir,
the sweet thoughts of what may be.
