The Coming Winter

The Coming Winter

Winter,
fast approaching.
Leaves changing hue, falling.
The temperature lowering.
Animals scurrying,
gather quickly
to sleep.
Changes.
All around us,
mottled ambers and reds.
Trees stand barren, skeletal limbs,
prepare for winters sleep.
Night encroaches,
darkness.
But yet,
lights are hanging.
Festive decorations,
in excited preparation.
Music played, fires burn.
All festive cheer.
Joyous.
Brighter.
All is shining,
brings cheer and life to all,
lighting the houses all around.
Snow falling, blanketing.
Picture perfect.
Festive.
Christmas,
tradition rich.
The tree and wreath displayed.
Our stockings hung, and carols sung.
Chestnuts and log fires.
Family close,
Cherished.
